Metamorphosis Monday -- Christmas Cactus Transformation

Thanks to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for sponsoring

I have had this Christmas cactus for 5 or 6 years. It has looked kind of like this (only smaller) for all of those years.

Towards the end of August I was cleaning and sat the cactus outside to water. I forgot all about it for about a week but it looked like it was doing okay out there beside the other plants so I left it. Toward the end of November I walked past the plant (I forgot it was outside) and it had transformed into this . .

I think all of those years I must have been watering it too much or something because it never bloomed. When I forgot about it and didn't do anything to if for a couple of months, it turned beautiful. Needless to say, I brought it inside and used it to decorate for the holidays.

Now, I'm not sure what to do with it.

I spent part of the afternoon yesterday quilting my "Orange Crush Mystery Quilt" (a design by Bonnie over at Quiltville). I can't wait to get it finished so all of you can see it.

Until tomorrow . . .

Take care and God Bless.

Yes...Don't Water It!! Even though it's called a Christmas one, it's still a cactus...very little water all year! Sure bloomed nice! Enjoy..

How pretty. It needs a certain amount of dark which is why it may have bloomed when you put it outdoors. It got enough of darkness. My little one in the guest room upstairs (which doesn't have lights on hardly at all) bloomed wildly. My bigger one in the breakfast room (which has lights on a good part of the evening) -- didn't!

Light is really a factor in making those cactuses bloom.

It turned out so pretty. I have a day lily that refuses to bloom.
