Tour of My Home - Part 1

Greetings everyone!  I just love this time of year. . .

  • The beautiful lights add such a festive feeling on even the gloomiest of days.
  • The Christmas decorations one never gets tired of seeing because they are only out for a month or two each year.
  • The joy, peace, and happiness in the air.
  • And we can't forget getting together with friends and family--some we only see this time of year.

We were fortunate to be asked to participate in our town's "Tour of Homes" the weekend before last. Now, I am sending you an invitation to attend a tour just for all of you out there in blogland,
starting with the entrance of our home.

I hope you can attend.

The windows on each side of the door are quite large and you can see the foyer through them. Even if I turned off the inside lights, you could still see inside.

Edited to add: I took a new picture in the daylight and replaced the other one.

This is a little yard display that greeted people as they came to the front door.

I outlined my flower beds with greenery, green lights, and red bows. The red bows added to the festive feeling of the front door.

This family of Christmas rabbits greet you as you walk in the door. I made these bunnies at least 10 years ago. They are still a treat to see each year.

My dad made this table and the bench the rabbits are sitting on many years ago. He is an accomplished carpenter and would make anything for me as long as I showed him a picture or gave him an idea of the size and shape. The Santa holds Christmas cards. It is also handmade by one of my sister-in-laws. Thank you, Kelly. I've had it for years also.

Most years I put up heavy greenery garland and lights on the stairway railing. This year, since we had the tour of homes, I kept it very simple with fresh pine, a candle, and red balls. (My son was disappointed because he couldn't cause me agony by knocking the greenery down this year. For some reason, no matter how careful he is going up and down the stairs, he will knock part of it down.)

This is a closeup of one of the steps. The greenery is drying out so it is time for my husband to go out and cut some fresh.

Well, that's it for today. I'm glad you could stop by. Please stop by again to see the "Tour of My Home - Part 2". We will venture up the stairs and see the formal living room and dining room. See you later.

I love those sweet bunnies, and think I have one of the patterns, too. My mom has a similar bunny with a red plaid fabric. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

You are so kind to open your home this time of year! Love the greenery on the stairs--it would NEVER make it at my house! Thanks for the tour and joining "Deck the Halls"!

Marilyn, thank you for leaving a comment. As you probably saw, I am a new blogger and you are my first comment.

Susan, Surprisingly, my greenery has lasted better than my fake pine garland does. My son has not knocked any of it off of the steps yet. At least, not that I know of. Thanks for your comment.
