"Show us Your Roosters Blog Party 2" coming up!

Barb at Bella Vista is hosting a "Show Us Your Roosters Blog Party 2" on Friday, August 6. I have decided to participate.

When I moved into this home 6 years ago, I wasn't planning to decorate my kitchen with roosters and sunflowers (as I did at my old house). But when I got here, I decided that I had the perfect spot for them.

Entrance Redo

I mentioned in my last post that as I walked through the house I noticed I needed to pick up and redo. Basically, I had left the area empty after I put away the Christmas and winter decorations.

So I swept and dusted and then added a few things to make it look more homey and inviting.

Favorite Things Saturday

A big thank you to Laurie at Bargain Hunting with Laurie for hosting "A Few of My Favorite Things" Saturdays. 

I have several wood items that my dad made me that I will treasure forever.

 

I'm glad I went around with the camera because I realize I need to spend the morning tomorrow sprucing up by picking up and moving things around to fill in holes, such as on the ironing board and the bench. I also noticed I have a sofa table in my entrance that looks kind of bare.

Lazy Day Sunday

I have been under the weather for the last couple of days so I didn't get my house cleaned and things re-arranged like I planned to. I also didn't get the bathroom chair recovered. Hopefully, I'll feel better later this week and can get things done. 

I have had a hard time letting go of Christmas this year. As I look around the house, I am still finding signs of Christmas. This is the top of my antique treadle sewing machine cabinet in my bedroom.

This is actually Kelsey's ceramic doll. I didn't really have anything else to put here so I decided to keep it out until I can find just the right thing to put in its place. The table topper is also Christmas. I am planning a spring topper right now to take it's place.

I decided I would put out my ceramic rabbits in this spot. But, I realized last night that I'm not sure where they are. I asked my husband if I had a box of decorations in the garage and he said he didn't know. It is dark now and I don't want to dig around in the garage at this time of night. So maybe I'll remember to look for them tomorrow.

It's the Day After Christmas and the House is Quiet

It is a beautiful, crisp, sunny morning here on Pine Ridge. This is a picture of the sun filtering in through the window on one of my Holiday displays.

 I hope everyone had a wonderfully, relaxing Christmas. I know many are grateful that Christmas was on a Friday because that gives them a 3 or 4 day holiday. I think we all need that.


My husband worked so I spent the day with my two children. Funny though, not really at the same time. I made breakfast/brunch for my daughter and her boyfriend around 10 in the morning. We then piddled around playing with new Christmas gifts and a WII we borrowed from my son's girlfriend. I made a delicious lunch/dinner consisting of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, and corn. We ate around 4 p.m. That's when my son and his girlfriend got back from her family's celebrations. My daughter and her boyfriend then went to his house to visit. It was a great relaxing day for me and my family, except Mr. Paramedic. I'm not sure how busy he was but I hope he wasn't--which means most people are well.


I had hoped I would need to borrow this sled and . . .

spend part of the day outside with the kids building one of these . . .

 

but, we only got a dusting of snow--enough to make the roads slick.
